A TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED HOBO

I was a technologically advanced hobo. I was a homeless bum but a connected bum. That's me pictured above proudly displaying my mobile workstation. Ah, the dog days of dial-up.

I wasn't the only internet-connected hobo. There were lots of us out there. In fact, we were legion. Think about that the next time you stereotype a skid row shopping cart pusher as a junkie loser. He may just build better web pages than you and lord knows he's got a lot of free time on his hands.

Bums Prefer Macs In Their Shopping Cart

An informal survey estimates that four out of every five homeless bums who carry a laptop around in their shopping cart prefer Mac laptops. Why? Because it's sexy.

I had a Mac laptop while I was living on the street. The bag ladies were on me like flies on dumpster sushi.
