INSCRIPTION FOR AN ANTIQUE PITCHER,

Come, old friend! sit down and listen!

Old Silenus, bloated, drunken,

Bacchus in the Tuscan valleys,
Never drank the wine he vaunted
In his dithyrambic sallies.
